Andrei Hagiu

Andrei Hagiu is a professor of information systems at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business. His primary areas of expertise include digital platforms, data-enabled business models, innovation, and law & economics.

Previously, he held visiting and faculty appointments at MIT Sloan School of Management. Before that, he was an associate professor of business administration at Harvard Business School, where he also served earlier as an assistant professor.

Earlier in his career, he worked in product management at Intuit and held a research fellowship at Japan’s Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Hagiu has received numerous honors, including multiple Dean’s Research Scholar awards, the Thinkers50 Radar distinction, and awards for his research on digital platforms and competition. He is also the co-author of “Invisible Engines: How Software Platforms Drive Innovation and Transform Industries,” which received a major publishing award.

He earned a Ph.D. in economics from Princeton University, a master’s in economics from École Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Économique, and a degree in mathematics and economics from École Polytechnique.
