Elena Yndurain

Elena Yndurain is director of AI product management at Microsoft and a professor of technology strategy at IE Business School. Her primary areas of expertise include artificial intelligence, quantum computing, digital platforms, innovation, and law & economics.

She also serves as an expert advisor to the World Economic Forum and has held an honorific professorship in quantum computing at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.  She also leads research and executive education on emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and software-as-a-service, and advises organizations on technology strategy and digital transformation.

Previously, she served as interim CEO for Europe at QunaSys, where she built and led the company’s European business in quantum computing. Before that, she held senior roles at IBM Quantum Computing, where she led technology adoption and industry partnerships, and at the Inter-American Development Bank, where she led innovation and digital-transformation initiatives.

Earlier, she held leadership roles at Microsoft in corporate strategy and cloud computing, as well as senior positions at Nokia, Oliver Wyman, Cap Gemini, and Ernst & Young, focusing on telecommunications, emerging technologies, and business strategy.

Yndurain is the author of “Quantum Computing Strategy: Foundations and Applicability.”

She earned a master’s and a Ph.D. in telecommunications engineering from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, an executive MBA from IE Business School, and a bachelor’s from the University of Michigan.
