Lyman Stone is a senior fellow and director of the Pronatalism Initiative at the Institute for Family Studies. He is also director of research at Demographic Intelligence.
His research focuses on fertility, family demography, population dynamics, survey methodology, and the social and policy factors that influence family formation. His work has been widely cited in national media.
Before joining the Institute for Family Studies, Stone worked as an agricultural economist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service. Earlier, he was an economist at the Tax Foundation, where he specialized in tax policy and international economic analysis.
Stone earned a Ph.D. in sociology, with a specialization in population dynamics, from McGill University. He also earned a master’s in international trade and investment policy from George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs and a bachelor’s, magna cum laude, from Transylvania University.
