Frédéric M. Marty

Frédéric Marty is a research professor at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and a researcher with the Research Group in Law, Economics and Management (GREDEG) at Université Côte d’Azur. He is also an ICLE academic affiliate.
His research focuses on competition law and economics, the history of antitrust policy, regulation, public procurement, and sectoral public policy. He co-directs GREDEG’s research group on competition, public policy, and sector regulation with Patrice Bougette.
Before joining GREDEG, Marty held other research positions with CNRS, where his work examined regulatory law and economics, public procurement, and competition policy. Earlier, he worked for the French Ministry of Defense.
Marty is a former member of the French Competition Authority, where he was responsible for matters involving regulated legal professions. He is also affiliated with CIRANO in Montreal and the Chair in the Economics of Public-Private Partnerships at Sorbonne Business School. He teaches competition law and economics at Toulouse Capitole University, Paris-Panthéon-Assas University, Aix-Marseille University, and Université Côte d’Azur.
Marty earned a Ph.D. in economics from École Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay, where he also completed his undergraduate studies.
