Stephen E. Margolis

Stephen E. Margolis was a professor of economics and chair of the Department of Economics at North Carolina State University’s College of Management. He died in August 2025.

In addition, he was an ICLE academic affiliate and a research fellow at the Independent Institute. He was co-author, with Stan Liebowitz, of the widely acclaimed book “Winners, Losers & Microsoft: Competition and Antitrust in High Technology,” and a contributor to numerous scholarly volumes.  He also taught at the University of Michigan, University of Western Ontario, University of Arizona, Harvard University, and Duke University.

He received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of California at Los Angeles.
