George Bittlingmayer is Professor Emeritus of finance at the University of Kansas School of Business, where he was the Wagnon Distinguished Professor of Finance.
He has held research positions at the University of Michigan, Washington University, the University of Chicago and the University of California, Davis. He also served as a visiting economist at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and as a research fellow at the International Institute of Management, Berlin.
He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago in 1981; his M.A. in Economics from the University of Chicago in 1977; and his B.A. in Economics and German from Lehigh University in 1975.
