Pierre Régibeau is a competition expert at Analysis Group and former chief competition economist at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition. His primary areas of expertise include industrial organization, technology-intensive industries, intellectual property, digital platforms, innovation, vertical restraints, abuse of dominance, international trade, and law & economics.
Previously, he served as chief competition economist at the European Commission, where he played a leading role in shaping competition policy and economic analysis in antitrust enforcement.
He has held academic appointments at the MIT Sloan School of Management, the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and several European universities.
He also served as a member of the European Commission’s Economic Advising Group on Competition Policy and was on the editorial board of the Journal of Industrial Economics. For more than a decade, he taught on the intersection of intellectual-property rights and competition policy at the CRESSE Summer School on Competition Policy and Regulation.
He earned a Ph.D. in economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelor’s in economics from the University of Liège.
