Alec Stapp

Alec Stapp is co-founder and co-CEO of the Institute for Progress.

His work focuses on technology policy, antitrust, and data privacy and security, particularly issues affecting innovation and emerging technologies.

Stapp previously served as director of technology policy at the Progressive Policy Institute. Earlier, he was a research fellow at the International Center for Law & Economics, a technology policy fellow at the Niskanen Center, and a graduate research fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. Prior to his policy work, he worked in operations at a startup company.

He earned a master’s in economics from George Mason University and a bachelor’s from the University of Arizona.
