R.J. Lehmann on private flood insurance

Sen. Kevin Cramer – ICLE Editor-in-Chief and Senior Fellow R.J. Lehmann was quoted in a press statement released by the office of U.S. Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) about the need for greater clarity regarding the eligibility of policyholders who leave the National Flood Insurance Program to retain their discounts should they later wish to return. You can read the full statement here.

“If you leave the NFIP, go to a private insurer, and then want to return to the NFIP later … you can still get the rate you had gotten had you not left in the first place. I think that’s a valuable thing where Congress can provide clarity,” said R.J. Lehmann, Senior Fellow and Editor-in-Chief of the International Center for Law and Economics.
