Geoff Manne on antitrust in video games

“There is clearly competition at the console level,” said Geoffrey A. Manne, president and founder of the International Center for Law & Economics, a research center.

In economics, Manne said, it’s assumed that consumers know what they’re dealing with when buying a console and subsequent games only available through that console, which also doesn’t preclude users from buying multiple consoles. “You can’t assume the two are completely distinct transactions.”
