Neil Turkewitz
Policy Advisor, Intellectual Property
Neil Turkewitz is president of Turkewitz Consulting Group.
His work focuses on copyright law, digital trade, and internet governance, particularly the modernization and international enforcement of intellectual-property protections and policies affecting creative industries and global communications. He is a member of the Artist Rights Alliance.
Turkewitz previously served as senior policy counsel at the International Center for Law & Economics. Earlier, he was executive vice president for international affairs at the Recording Industry Association of America, where he worked with governments, international organizations, and creative communities on copyright enforcement and market-access issues.
He also served as vice chairman of the Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Intellectual Property Rights, advising the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, and as a board member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Global Intellectual Property Center.
His professional work included participation in negotiations surrounding the WTO TRIPS Agreement, development of the WIPO Internet Treaties, and policy initiatives related to free-trade agreements and internet-policy coordination.
