John Gardner

John Gardner is an associate professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Mississippi.
His research focuses on labor economics and applied microeconomics, with particular emphasis on the economics of migration, race and gender, and the econometrics of causal inference.
Before becoming an associate professor, Gardner served as an assistant professor in the University of Mississippi’s Department of Economics.
Gardner has received a College of Liberal Arts Summer Research Grant from the University of Mississippi and a Graduate Student Small Project Help Research Grant from Carnegie Mellon University.
He earned a Ph.D. in economics and public policy and a master’s in economics from Carnegie Mellon University. He also earned a bachelor’s from the University of Colorado Boulder, graduating summa cum laude.
