David Agyeman-Duodu

David Agyeman-Duodu is an assistant professor of economics at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. His research focuses on macroeconomics, monetary economics, banking and financial intermediation, monetary measurement, and macro-finance.
Before joining Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Agyeman-Duodu served as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Mississippi. He also worked there as a graduate instructor, teaching economics courses while completing his doctoral studies.
Earlier in his career, Agyeman-Duodu worked as a manager at Bapex Academy in Accra, Ghana. He also served as an internal auditor for McDan Group and completed training with Deloitte Ghana as part of the firm’s inaugural scholarship program in assurance, taxation, and business process. He began his professional career as an audit intern with the Ghana Audit Service.
His honors and distinctions include the Lewis Smith Prize for Outstanding Graduate Student in Economics from the University of Mississippi Economics Department. At the University of Ghana, he received the GCB Bank Prize for Best Graduating Student in Banking and Finance and the KPMG Prize for Best Graduating Student in Business Administration. He also won the GH Big Idea Contest organized by Hospitalented Ghana and graduated as valedictorian and overall best student in business administration.
Agyeman-Duodu earned a Ph.D. in economics and a master’s in economics from the University of Mississippi. He also earned a bachelor’s in banking and finance from the University of Ghana. He is also a Level 3 candidate at the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana.
