Christopher Snowdon

Christopher Snowdon is the head of lifestyle economics at the Institute of Economic Affairs. His research focuses on social freedoms, prohibition, lifestyle regulation, and evidence-based policymaking.

Snowdon is the author of several books, including “Polemics,” an anthology of articles; “Killjoys: A Critique of Paternalism”; “Selfishness, Greed and Capitalism”; “The Art of Suppression: Pleasure, Panic and Prohibition”; “The Spirit Level Delusion”; and “Velvet Glove, Iron Fist: A History of Anti-Smoking.” He also edited the “Nanny State Index.”

He earned a bachelor’s from Lancaster University and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Buckingham.
