Ben Johnson

Ben Johnson is an associate professor of law at the University of Florida Levin College of Law and an academic affiliate of the International Center for Law & Economics.

His research examines federal courts, judicial behavior, and corporate law, using formal theory and quantitative methods. He also studies judicial politics, machine learning, and the relationship between courts and public opinion.

Before joining the University of Florida, Johnson served as an associate professor and assistant professor at Penn State Law. Earlier in his career, he worked as a litigation associate at Haynes and Boone LLP and as an equity-research associate at the investment bank Keefe, Bruyette & Woods Inc.

His research has received national awards from the Association of American Law Schools and the American Political Science Association.

Johnson earned a Ph.D. in politics from Princeton University, a J.D. from Yale Law School, and a master’s in economics from Boston University. He also holds a bachelor’s from Baylor University.
