Brian P. Brooks

Brian P. Brooks is a lawyer, banker, entrepreneur, technologist, and former government official. He served as Acting Comptroller of the Currency from May 2020 to January 2021. Brooks was nominated twice by President Donald Trump for a five-year term as Comptroller of the Currency, once during the 116th Congress, and once in the 117th Congress. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) from May 2020 to January 2021.

He served as the CEO of Binance.US from May 2021 to August 2021 and then as CEO of Bitfury from October 2021 to December 2022. Earlier in his career, he was managing partner of the Washington, D.C. office of O’Melveny & Myers LLP and chair of the firm’s Financial Services Practice Group. Other notable roles he has held include serving as chief legal officer for Coinbase and general counsel of Fannie Mae.
