Arthur Daemmrich

Arthur Daemmrich is director of the Arizona State University Consortium for Science, Policy and Outcomes and a professor of practice in the School for the Future of Innovation in Society.

His research focuses on science and technology policy, pharmaceutical innovation and regulation, chemical risk, health-care systems, the history of technology policy, and the governance of emerging technologies. His work examines how science and technology policy can improve public decision-making and engagement.

Before joining Arizona State University, Daemmrich was director of the Smithsonian Institution’s Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation. Earlier, he was an associate professor at the University of Kansas Medical Center, a visiting professor at the China Europe International Business School, an assistant professor at Harvard Business School, a visiting professor at the University of Pennsylvania, and director of the Center for Contemporary History and Policy at the Science History Institute.

He earned a Ph.D. in science and technology studies from Cornell University. He also earned a bachelor’s from the University of Pennsylvania.
