Asheesh Agarwal

Asheesh Agarwal is president of Agarwal Strategies LLC and an advisor to the American Edge Project.

His work focuses on antitrust, technology policy, and regulatory strategy, including competition policy and barriers to e-commerce growth.

Agarwal previously served as deputy general counsel at TechFreedom. Before that, he was senior counsel to the solicitor at the U.S. Department of Labor.

He earlier served as general counsel of the Social Security Administration, where he oversaw nationwide litigation and agency legal policy, and as general counsel of the Indiana Department of Revenue.

He also held senior roles in federal antitrust and consumer-protection policy. At the Federal Trade Commission, he was assistant director of the Office of Policy Planning, where he led competition-advocacy initiatives and examined regulatory barriers to e-commerce. At the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, he served as deputy assistant attorney general and counsel to the assistant attorney general.

Before entering government leadership, Agarwal practiced law as of counsel at Ogletree Deakins and earlier as an associate at Mayer Brown Row & Mawe.

Agarwal earned a bachelor’s from Northwestern University and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.
