Webinar on SEP Licensing and FRAND Commitments in Brazil

The International Center for Law & Economics (ICLE) and Fundação Getulio Vargas Direito Rio (FGV) co-hosted an Aug. 25 webinar discussing the latest developments and challenges related to Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) licensing in Brazil. The session explored the findings from CADE’s recently published SEP report, as well as a newly published report by Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), “SEP Litigation: A View from Brazil,” authored by Nicolo Zingales, Arthur Sadami, Gabriel Tajra, Valeria Silva, Rubens Cantanhede.

Brazil is increasingly central in global SEP litigation, influencing how international and domestic firms navigate FRAND (Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory) licensing terms. This webinar provided essential insights into recent landmark SEP cases in Brazil, judicial approaches to injunctions, global licensing negotiations, and the critical intersection of intellectual property and antitrust enforcement.

This webinar was a unique opportunity to engage directly with leading experts on the strategic implications of SEP and FRAND licensing in Brazil, exploring both economic and legal dimensions shaping this critical area of IP law.
