Liya Palagashvili on New Gig Work Legislation

ICLE Academic Affiliate, Liya Palagashvili, was quoted in a Gray DC story on Senator Bill Cassidy’s new “Unlocking Benefits for Independent Workers Act”:

The legislation doesn’t require companies to offer benefits and likely won’t get every gig worker access to them, but George Mason University’s Labor Policy Project Director Liya Palagashvili believes it’s a step forward for workers.

“This is an incremental policy change,” she said. “This is the one where you open up the floodgates at the gates to see what kind of kind of voluntary participation you’re getting.”
