Selcukhan Ünekbas

Selcukhan Ünekbaş is a postdoctoral researcher at the European University Institute and a research fellow at the Tusher Strategic Initiative for Technology Leadership at the University of California, Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. He is also a research fellow at the Dynamic Competition Initiative.

His research focuses on antitrust law, competition policy, law & economics, and digital markets.

Before becoming a postdoctoral researcher, Ünekbaş was a Ph.D. researcher at the European University Institute. Earlier, he was a visiting scholar at Georgetown University Law Center and an international scholar-in-residence with the American Bar Association Antitrust Law Section. Before entering academia, he practiced competition law as an associate at Dentons. Earlier in his career, he served as a teaching assistant and research assistant at the Institute for European Studies in Brussels and completed legal internships at Dentons, Baker McKenzie, and Microsoft.

Ünekbaş received the Jean Monnet Scholarship and graduated as the top student in his LL.M. cohort at the Institute for European Studies, where he also received the outstanding thesis award.

He earned a Ph.D. in law and an LL.M. from the European University Institute, an LL.M. in international and European business law from the Institute for European Studies, graduating summa cum laude, and a bachelor’s in law from Anadolu University, where he graduated in the top 1% of his class.
