Nicola Giocoli

Nicola Giocoli is a full professor of economics at the University of Pisa. His primary areas of expertise include law & economics, the history of economic thought, competition, bankruptcy, and the relationship between economic ideas and antitrust and constitutional law.
He also serves as managing editor of History of Economic Ideas and sits on the editorial boards of the Journal of Economic Methodology and Research in the History of Economic Thought and Methodology.
He has spent his academic career at the University of Pisa, where he previously served as an associate professor of economics and earlier as a researcher in economics.
Giocoli has received several distinctions, including the Joseph Dorfman Prize from the History of Economics Society and the Marco Fanno scholarship. His book “Modeling Rational Agents” received a major award from the European Society for the History of Economic Thought, and his article “Games Judges Don’t Play” received the society’s Best Article Award.
He earned a doctorate in the history of economic thought from the University of Florence, a master’s in economics from the University of Warwick, and a degree in economics from the University of Florence.
