Mariateresa Maggiolino
Full Professor of Economic Law

Mariateresa Maggiolino is a full professor of economic law at Università Bocconi and director of the Master of Arts in Law. She also teaches intellectual-property law at SDA Bocconi and coordinates the LET’S Lab. Her primary areas of expertise include antitrust, intellectual property, banking law, data regulation, and law & economics.
Her research focuses on the relationship between markets and rights, with particular attention to competition law, intellectual-property rights, financial regulation, and data law. She is the author of several books, including “Intellectual Property and Antitrust: A Comparative Economic Analysis of U.S. and EU,” “Big Data and Antitrust Law,” and “The Legal Framework for the Management of Non-Performing Loans in Banking.”
She has spent her academic career at Università Bocconi, where she previously served as an associate professor, assistant professor, research fellow, and lecturer. She also was a visiting professor at Fordham Law School and a visiting scholar at Queen Mary University of London.
Earlier in her career, she practiced law in Italy.
Maggiolino graduated, cum laude, with a bachelor’s in economic and social sciences from Università Bocconi and a bachelor’s in law from the University of Milan. She also earned an LL.M. in comparative law from the University of Iowa.
