Martin Edwards is assistant professor of law at the University of Mississippi School of Law and an academic affiliate of the International Center for Law & Economics (ICLE).

His research focuses on business-entity law, corporate governance, antitrust, financial and commercial technology regulation, firearms regulation, and law & economics, with particular attention to the economic analysis of public policy affecting business organizations.

At the University of Mississippi, Edwards teaches contracts, business associations, mergers and acquisitions, securities regulation, and professional responsibility. Before joining Ole Miss, he served as assistant professor of law at Belmont University College of Law and earlier as assistant professor of law at Mississippi College School of Law. He also held a Forrester Fellowship at Tulane University Law School, where he taught legal research and writing.

Prior to entering academia, Edwards practiced at Phelps Dunbar LLP and served as a special assistant attorney general in the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office. He also clerked for Judge Leslie H. Southwick of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Edwards earned a J.D. from Duke University School of Law, where he served as managing editor of Law & Contemporary Problems and was a member of the moot court board. He also holds a bachelor’s from the University of Mississippi.
