Luís Cabral
Luís Cabral is the Paganelli-Bull Professor of Economics and International Business at New York University’s Stern School of Business and academic director of the Nova SBE Public Policy Institute. He is also a research fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research. Cabral’s research focuses on firm dynamics, innovation, platforms, and reputation, with particular emphasis on media and entertainment industries.
Before joining New York University, Cabral was a professor at London Business School. Earlier, he held a series of faculty appointments at Nova School of Business and Economics, progressing from research and teaching positions to a full professorship. He also held visiting appointments at the University of California, Berkeley, Yale University, and IESE Business School.
Cabral has authored the book “Introduction to Industrial Organization,” a widely used text in the field of industrial organization.
In addition to his academic appointments, Cabral served as managing editor of the Journal of Industrial Economics. He later became co-editor of the Journal of Economics & Management Strategy and served on the advisory board of the International Journal of Industrial Organization.
Among his professional distinctions, Cabral served as president of the European Association for Research in Industrial Economics.
Cabral earned a Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University, where he studied under Paul Milgrom. He also holds a master’s in economics from Nova School of Business and Economics and a bachelor’s from the Catholic University of Portugal.
