Jacob R. Hall

Jacob R. Hall is an assistant professor in the Salmon P. Chase Center for Civics, Culture, and Society at The Ohio State University and a law & economics fellow at the International Center for Law & Economics (ICLE).

His research focuses on political economy, law & economics, and economic growth, drawing on European and American history. He also makes extensive use of spatial and network data.

Before joining Ohio State, Hall was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Economics at the University of Pennsylvania and the Penn Initiative for the Study of Markets. He previously served as a graduate lecturer in the Department of Economics at George Mason University.

Hall was a John and Daria Barry postdoctoral fellow and held fellowships with George Mason University’s Adam Smith Program, the Mercatus Center, and the Institute for Humane Studies.

He earned a Ph.D. in economics and a bachelor’s from George Mason University.
