Gregory J. Werden is a visiting scholar at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, which he joined in November 2022.
Werden earned a Ph.D. in economics at the University of Wisconsin before beginning work at the U.S. Justice Department’s (DOJ) Antitrust Division. At the DOJ, he helped prepare numerous sets of enforcement guidelines and more than 100 briefs filed in the appellate courts or the U.S. Supreme Court. He is the only Antitrust Division employee ever to receive the department’s Mary C. Lawton Lifetime Service Award.
