Pérez Motta Estrada
Eduardo Pérez Motta is managing partner at Pérez Motta Estrada y Asociados. His primary areas of expertise include competition policy, economic regulation, international trade, and law & economics.
He also serves as co-chair of the Compliance and Ethics Committee of the American Bar Association’s Antitrust Section and sits on advisory boards for the American Antitrust Institute and the Fordham Conference on International Antitrust Law and Policy. In addition, he is a member of the United Kingdom’s Advisory Commission for Growth.
Previously, he was a partner at SAI Derecho & Economía and at Agon Economics, Law & Strategy, advising on competition and regulatory matters.
Before entering private practice, he served as president of Mexico’s Federal Competition Commission, where he oversaw merger, cartel, and abuse-of-dominance cases, as well as market studies across a wide range of sectors.
Earlier, he was Mexico’s ambassador to the World Trade Organization, where he played a key role in launching the Doha Round and shaping its early outcomes.
He also served as minister counselor at Mexico’s trade office to the European Union, where he was chief negotiator of the free-trade agreement between Mexico and the European Union.
He earned a bachelor’s in economics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México undertook doctoral studies in economics at the University of California, Los Angeles.
