Alec Stapp

Alec Stapp is the Co-CEO and Co-Founder of the Institute for Progress and was previously an ICLE Research Fellow. After leaving ICLE and before starting the Institute for Progress, he was Director of Technology Policy for the Progressive Policy Institute.

Alec joined ICLE as a Research Fellow in March 2019. His research interests include technology policy, antitrust law, and data privacy & security. Alec’s work has been cited in the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times and published in Salon, CapX, and the National Review.

Before joining ICLE, Alec worked as a technology policy fellow at the Niskanen Center in Washington, D.C. and as an MA fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University in Arlington, VA. Prior to that, he worked in operations at a startup company in Phoenix, Arizona.

Alec has a master’s degree in economics from George Mason University. He also has a B.S. in economics from the University of Arizona.
